Lucky Orphans Project Relocation

Project Relocation is a program managed by Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue in Dutchess County.

Lucky Orphans is an equine sanctuary and does not adopt horses. However, we understand that while not all horses need rescue, some do need a new home as their owners fall on hard times. Project Relocation a resource to connect LOCAL horses to local homes before the animals go to auction, and without bringing the horses to the farm.

It is a way to be proactive in saving animals, especially horses in the Hudson Valley.

The following are horses currently available through LOHR Project Relocation:

We wouldn't be Lucky Orphans if we didn't have one special case to offer to you all.

Tinkerbell is an 11 year old Halflinger Mare located in New Paltz New York.

Little miss has Cushings unfortunately, which can affect many aspects of a horses life and care, but it can be managed with medications and diet.

Tinkerbell has also foundered before but is another ailment that is manageable with diet, hoof care, and living quarters.

Halflinger's are known to be easy keepers.

Her current owners are elderly and have decided that her care is too much for them to manage alone,

while seeking a new home, they have paid for help to come to the residence and care for her

Luna is a Flea Bitten 14 year old gray Quarter horse mare

Located in Patterson, NY

Health/Coggins UTD on everything

She is sound and healthy as they come. She isn't dangerous at all. She is best suited to an advanced Western rider.

Luna has been shifted to a bitless bridle.

Luna will also come with a saddle, sheet, and heavy blanket for the winter.

Donovan & Cohiba

Donovan is an Appaloosa gelding and Cohiba is a Thoroughbred gelding.

These sweet boys are 20+, a bonded pair and cannot be seperated

Located in Millerton, NY

These sweet boys haven't been under saddle for awhile. Although it may be possible to ride them, it will take patience and an experienced horseperson.

Unfortunately one of their owners was diagnosed with Dementia and his wife no longer has the ability to leave the home to care for these guys.

Loki is a 17 Year old Bay Horse Gelding

Located in Kerhonkson, NY

Up to date on farrier, teeth and vaccinations. A coggins due for transport.

Lokie had previously been used as a Trail Riding Horse at Pine Ridge Dude Ranch and is great tempered.

However, he has developed calcium deposits in his knees which make it very painful for him to be ridden.

This sweet guy is looking for a pasture to retire in and get all the attention he possibly can.
